The Finance Ministers´ Meeting (FMM), at the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), is the latest major event to utilise the communications provided by ZTE Corporation´s unique GoTa (Global open Trunking architecture) technology.

ZTE´s GoTa digital trunking system and GoTa handsets were selected by China Satcom for the construction of the telecommunications network at the prestigious event, which serves as a forum for fostering policy dialogues and consultations on financial issues between Asia and Europe.  The event was attended by leading figures from financial institutions such as the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the European Central Bank and was opened by His Excellency Wen Jiabao, Premier of the People´s Republic of China.

"A conference of this importance requires perfect dispatching functions, maximum security, quick sequencing, channel sharing and good voice quality," said Mr Wu Guoqing, GM of Tianjin Satcom.  "We chose ZTE´s GoTa system as we were confident that it would meet our high demands.

"The praise from the meeting committee and the security group proves that our choice was right," he added.

In early 2003, ZTE began working with China Satcom and other telecom carriers on related technical tests. In 2004, ZTE independently developed and launched GoTa, the world´s first digital trunking technology based on CDMA2000 technology.

"Unique to ZTE and featuring services including trunked radio systems, packed data, positioning and instant messaging, the GoTa system is ideal for many organisations requiring an effective and reliable private communications system, " said Mr Zhao Xianming, VP at ZTE. "We are extremely pleased to see our GoTa technology has interested so many specialists and customers."

ZTE was awarded the right to build a trial GoTa network for China Tietong earlier this year, which, covering three of China´s largest cities, is the first large-scale GoTa project in China.  Also, earlier this month, ZTE announced a sponsorship agreement in which it will become the official partner of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and will provide a complete package of solutions and services to the second phase of the ITU event, to be held in Tunis, November 16-18 2005.

To date, ZTE´s GoTa system has been successfully deployed in more than 10 countries including Malaysia, Russia, Norway, Turkey, and Brazil, becoming one of the major digital trunking technologies to change the pattern of the global trunking market.  ZTE is now hosting a global series of CDMA seminars bringing together leading partners and suppliers to highlight CDMA450 and GoTa - the world´s first CDMA-based trunking technology.

The technology received high praise from the Ministry of Information Industry (MII) when GoTa smoothly passed the technical authentication on June 23, 2005: "The GoTa system - the world´s first digital trunking technology independently developed by ZTE, has successfully achieved world-leading level by filling in the gap of CDMA-based digital trunking products."
