Salvador, 3rd October 2005 - With insight of network evolution and aim of bringing more innovative wireless solutions and customized services, ZTE Corporation is showing its latest leading-edge UMTS 3G wireless technology and multimedia solutions featured with UMTS "all in one stop" solution, HSDPA, VOD, live digital TV, high-speed internet surfing, mobile videoconferencing, and CDMA2000 EV/DO in booth A440 of ITU Telecom Americas 2005 in Salvador, Brazil.

Together with 3G solutions at this grand show, there are ZTE´s cutting-edge converged network solutions covering IPTV, IP Centrex, NGN technologies and CDMA GoTa (Global Open Trunking Architecture), the first digital trunking communication technology based on CDMA2000 technology in the world.

Established in Brazil since 2002 and making the country its launching platform to Latin America, ZTE do Brasil sees the third generation in mobile communication represents  a great opportunity for getting new markets.

 "The Latin America market is one of our important strategic markets around the world.  We have been investing heavily in 3G technology and we are confident about the superior quality of our 3G solutions" says Zhou Hui, President of ZTE Latin America.

"Today, ZTE supplies different equipments and network solutions to major carriers of the Latin American region. In Brazil, our customers include three major fixed telephony carriers of Brasil Telecom, Telefonica and Telemar, together with mobile operators such as VIVO, the only CDMA mobile operator in the country." added Zhou Hui.

In globe, ZTE has already achieved a great deal of progress in 3G field.  In June 2004, ZTE signed an agreement to build Africa´s most advanced 3G UMTS mobile network for Tunisia´s PTT CERT.  In September 2004, the Corporation announced that it had made the first ever 3G call in Tunisia.  The UMTS network covers Tunisia´s two most important cities of Sousse and Tunis.

To date, ZTE is the only Chinese vendor with a complete package of independently developed base stations and switching systems with self-owned brands in the CDMA field. By the end of 2004, ZTE had deployed 25 million lines of CDMA in more than 50 countries around the world.

Latin America Operations

ZTE do Brasil, ZTE´s subsidiary in Brazil, headquartered in Sao Paulo. The company has chosen Brazil as its operational platform in Latin America because of the location, size of the market and facilities of the country.

In South America, ZTE has offices in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Venezuela and Peru.  In North America, ZTE has three R&D centers in New Jersey, Dallas and San Diego, and two representative offices in the US and Canada.

To promote ZTE´s 3G solutions and meet various needs of carriers in this region, ZTE is carrying out a program to temporarily install 3G solutions. 3G Trials are already in process in Brazil and Mexico, and the program will be extended to other countries.
