Corisat America Inc., a global telecommunications provider based in Miami, Florida, is to have its Softswitch-based NGN network provided by ZTE Corporation (Shenzhen: 000063, Hong Kong: 0763), China´s largest listed telecommunications manufacturer and leading wireless solutions provider.

The network, employing the ZTE Fixed-line 3G@NGN solutions, will mainly provision enhanced calling services and wholesale VoIP services to customers throughout America and Latin-America.

"This agreement continues our momentum in the global NGN market. It is underpinned by the maturity, flexibility and technical advancement of the solutions," said Ling Dongsheng, GM of international marketing, network division, ZTE Corporation. "Our Fixed-line 3G@NGN solutions harness the power of ZTE´s patented technologies and enable us to seamlessly deliver a diverse portfolio of migration approaches to next generation networks.

"The new network will help Coristan differentiate its services and improve profit margins, by offering diverse high-quality VoIP, Internet and multimedia services."

This is the latest NGN success for ZTE, which was the first Chinese member of ISC (International Softswitch Consortium). Since embarking on a feasibility analysis of the technology in 1998, ZTE has constructed China´s first commercial network based on Softswitch technology, installed NGNs in Indonesia, Hong Kong, Pakistan and the Philippines. The company has also edited standards on NGN technology for the International Telecommunications Union (ITU).

Last month, ZTE also announced that it was to build Central Asia´s first commercial NGN, following an agreement with Tajikistan´s major fixed line operator, Tajiktelecom, a partner of Tajik National Communications Department.

The Coristan contract increases ZTE´s presence in America. In late June, ZTE opened its new US Corporate Headquarters in Dallas, Texas, to support ZTE´s long established R&D centres in New Jersey and Dallas.
