12 November  2018, Shenzhen, China - ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today announced that it has declared over 1000 families of 3GPP 5G standard-essential patents(SEP) to the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI).
It is ZTE’s first ETSI declaration for its 5G patent portfolio after the completion of the first phase standardization of 5G standards (Release 15). ZTE will continue making 5G patent declarations according to the status of ZTE’s 5G patent portfolio and the development of the 3GPP 5G standardization effort.
The deployment of the 5G mobile communication enables high efficiency communication network and greatly improves the network capability.ZTE continuously invests in 5G technological research and product development. Meanwhile, it has participated in the 5G relevant standard development organizations(SDO) and industrial associations such as ITU-R, ETSI, 3GPP, NGMN, GSMA, 5GAA, IEEE, CCSA, IMT-2020(5G) PG and CESI, and has been contributing to the development of 5G standards.
In 3GPP, an important international organization for 5G standard setting, ZTE takes the positions of vice chairwoman of RAN3 and editors of multiple specifications, such as NR multi-connection, NG-RAN data transmission and NR electromagnetic compatibility. In addition, ZTE serves as rapporteurs of multiple technologies, such as 5G NOMA, CoMP, ATSSS and 5G slicing.
So far, ZTE has cumulatively submitted over 5000 international standard proposals on 5G NR/NG Core. In collaboration with its industry partners, ZTE will keep promoting the 5G standardization by participating in the standard setting activities of 3GPP.
