31 March 2017, Shenzhen, China –ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, is pleased to congratulate Mr. Sun Bo, the company’s expert on technology standardization, who was recognized for his contributions to new wireless network standards by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

The IEEE conferred Mr. Sun with the Outstanding Contribution Award for his work on IEEE 802.11-2016, a wireless local area network (WLAN) standard that will become a component of next-generation 5G communications technologies.

IEEE 802.11-2016 is the most important release of IEEE 802.11 baseline standard, incorporating the 802.11ac and 802.11ad amendments. Mr. Sun Bo offered essential contribution to ensure the compatibility of 802.11ac with the 802.11-2016 standard. ZTE believes WLAN will be an important component of 5G, as the flexible core network structure of 5G will support multiple types of access networks including WLAN.

As a leader in the research and standardization of 5G technologies internationally, ZTE has been contributing to the definition of IEEE standards since 2005, and the company’s standard expert is the co-chair of the physical layer adhoc group of the 802.11ax standard project.

ZTE is a member of more than 40 standardization organizations, alliances and forums globally including IEEE, International Telecommunications Union, 3GPP, NGMN and Japan 5GMF, and is committed to industry efforts to drive 5G standardization.
