New solution can support 60G of bandwidth, multiple service access points,

efficiently connects BBU and RRU to CPRI interface

2 February 2016, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, has announced that it will debut the ZXMP M721 OD61, a new optical transport network (OTN) product, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

The ZXMP M721 OD61 is optimized for fronthaul networks and addresses the growing CPRI (Common Public Radio Interface) challenge facing mobile operators today. The solution features 60G bandwidth capability and multiple service access point availability and efficiently connects Baseband Units (BBU) and Remote Radio Unit(RRU) to the CPRI interface.

“The ZXMP M721 OD61 is fast, compact, intelligent and designed to help operators cope with the modern challenges of mobile network development,” said Mr. Wei Xiaoqiang, Director of ZTE BN products. “In the LTE era, this solution satisfies rapidly rising CPRI service bearing requirements caused by centralized BBU deployment.”

As large scale deployments of commercial LTE networks increase around the world, more mobile operators have turned to BBU POOL to save precious equipment room space and manage ever-increasing BBU devices. The urgent challenge for operators, then, is how to effectively connect BBU and RRU to the CPRI.

The ZXMP M721 OD61 addresses operators facing multiple service access needs such as CPRI OPTION2/3/4/5/6/7/8, STM-1/4/16 and GE. It supports point-to-point networking and implements ring networking to achieve effective network protection and DC and AC power supplies. The solution saves equipment room resources and reduces costs through a variety of installation options, including pole-mounted installation, wall-mounted installation, installation in parallel with RRU and side-mounted installation on RRU.

Finally, the ZXMP M721 OD61 is an outdoor solution built to withstand severe adverse weather. The new solution meets IP65 (Ingress Protection) requirements and can adapt to working temperatures as low as - 40 degrees Celsius and as high as 55 degrees Celsius.

ZTE ranked second in the global optical network products market with a market share of 13% in the third quarter of 2015, according to the latest report released by Ovum, a leading telecoms research provider.
