26 February 2018, Shenzhen, China - ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, and MTK completed the world’s first verification of NB-IoT R14 data rate enhancement feature, lifting the uplink data rate from 60kbps in R13 to over 150 kbps in R14, with the downlink data rate from 21kbps in R13 to over 100kbps in R14.
The verification this time symbolizes the coming of R14 stage that enables customers to enjoy higher data rate and supports diversified services.
For the verification this time, ZTE takes the lead in R14 data rate enhancement feature verification, promoting the NB-IoT network’s further maturity and all around development of the industry ecosystem. On R14 stage, NB-IoT not only apparently increases the data rate, but also introduces positioning, multi-carrier enhancement, multi-broadcast functions. By improving the system capacity, NB-IoT also supports lower power consumption UEs, mobility and service continuity enhancements, then to enlarge the applications of NB-IoT and satisfy more market demands.
A major promoter of NB-IoT, ZTE accomplished the first industry technology verification and demonstration based on 3GPP NB-IoT standard protocol, ushering in the NB-IoT commercialization era. In addition, ZTE cooperated with over 20 operators around the world, including South Africa’s MTN and Belgium’s Telenet in NB-IoT sinarios.
To date, ZTE has extended its IoT services to smart parking, smart street lights, smart meter reading, water quality monitoring, smart locking, smart city and smart home at large. Together with global partners, ZTE will promote NB-IoT industry development, providing the intelligent application base for multitude industries, thereby creating more values for customers.
