18 November 2016, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today announced that it has demonstrated its Smart Parking and Smart Water Monitoring services based on narrow-band Internet of things (NB-IoT) at the World Internet Conference in Wuzhen, China.

Jointly launched by China Mobile Zhejiang Branch and ZTE in October 2016, Smart Parking and Smart Water Control are China’s first commercial NB-IoT services that comply with the 3GPP standard.

Scientific Parking

Smart Parking uses underground car detection. By monitoring changes in a magnetic field, parking space data is captured. Through the NB-IoT network, relevant data is transmitted to the management platform to help car owners quickly park or find their cars. A variety of APP-enabled payment such as WeChat makes the service user-friendly and convenient to maintain. Traditional management costs can be saved and consequently revenues will increase. This smart service aims to relieve urban traffic jams and mitigate air pollution.

Smart Water Monitoring

Zhejiang Mobile and ZTE have jointly piloted a Smart Water Monitoring project in Wuzhen. In this project, collection points are deployed over a wide range of water sources in order to help make information monitoring, processing and analysis more intelligent. The system can be interconnected with up to five governmental water control platforms to provide a collaborative emergency response.

Various water parameter collection sensors, NB-IoT chips and communication modules are embedded in smart terminals. Water buoys detect and collect surrounding water quality changes and then transmit the data to the IoT cloud platform via the NB-IoT network. In the current system, various indexes detected can be viewed. Information about the quality, stage and drainage of various types of water can be sensed in real time. Timely forewarnings and scheduling can be provided to achieve intelligent and scientific water environment management.

The  third World Internet Conference, held from Nov. 16th to 18th in Wuzhen, Zhejiang, China, centred on Innovation-Driven Internet Development for the Benefit of All, exhibited global Internet development trends, participants’ latest achievements and prospects of future development as well. The first World Internet Conference was held in 2014 and since then, ZTE has been actively involved in service demonstrations and on-site network safeguarding, earning recognition from industrial customers.

ZTE continues to work closely with Zhejiang Branch of China Mobile to provide exclusive end-to-end solutions to wireless networks, core networks and service platforms. Based on its existing network in Wuzhen and narrow-band cellular technologies, ZTE has deployed IoT applications and demonstrated its IoT technology achievements to the World Internet Conference participants.
