The State Nuclear Power Technology Corp. (SNPTC) is a state-owned backbone enterprise. It is authorized by the State Council to sign contracts with foreign countries on behalf of the state for receiving third-generation advanced nuclear technology and implementing relevant engineering design and project management. Through assimilation and creation, it forms the main body of China's nuclear technology brand. To grasp new opportunities in the nuclear market, transform the company's industry deployment results in the last five years, explore the operation space different from regular electricity services, and to allow third-generation nuclear electricity to "go abroad", SNPTC prepares to explore foreign markets and services.
To meet the requirements for internationalized development, SNPTC has finished the selection of target countries and the personnel who will go broad, and is preparing to systematically train these personnel to do foreign business.
As a model of globalized Chinese high-tech enterprises, ZTE has accumulated 20 years' experience in internationalization, which includes a lot of lessons, management practice, tools, cases, and has nurtured many experts.
According to ZTE's international personnel training practice and SNPTC's service characteristics and requirements, ZTE has made a comprehensive training program of 10 weeks for SNPTC. The program includes the following four parts:
Different from traditional training projects, this project has the following highlights:
To meet SNPTC's requirements for carrying out its internationalization strategy and nurturing corresponding personnel, the program uses highly customized courses and teaching methods.
The staged modular course system fully covers the skills, service knowledge, and practical operation capabilities that international personnel should acquire in all the stages and fields of internationalization exploration.
All the service courses are given by ZTE's service experts who have rich internationalization experience, and include a lot of ZTE's experience and lessons in globalization, cases, tools, mechanisms, and methods.
Excellent teachers from the U.S.A are invited to give English lessons. The teaching content comes from the practical English conversation scenarios of model enterprises, focuses on the shortcomings of Chinese people's English expressions, and helps students to rapidly grasp and use the knowledge.
Through systematic learning, students have obtained the following benefits:
The courses combine the requirements of SNPTC's internationalization strategy and ZTE's international development experience. Students have clearly understood the panorama and system architecture of the internationalization strategy, expanded their overall vision, and acquired necessary internationalization quality.
Students have systematically learned the service exploration and operations of all the core internationalization fields, and have grasped the mechanisms, methods, operating key points, and best practice of overseas services.
Through 120 hours' practice-oriented learning, students' English usage levels have been improved in an all-round manner. The standard-reaching (L5 and above) rate was 39.1 percent before the training, and went up to 91.3 percent after the completion of the course. The excellence (L7 and above) rate was 0 percent before the training (only one person obtained the highest level, L6), and rose to 26.1 percent (six persons) after the completion of the course.
Students have obtained abundant course materials, cases, tutorial materials, and reference materials. All the materials come from ZTE's 20 years' internationalization experience, and will provide direct guidance for students' practice. In addition, ZTE experts can provide consultation in the future.
The courses provide background information about the two target countries of Brazil and South Africa, including political, economic and cultural environments, state policies, regulations and laws, local market environments and commercial rules, and local resources and life guides. South Africa's BEE policy and Brazil's tax framework are taught and analyzed thoroughly.
To sum up, this SNPTC international personnel training project has achieved the expected objectives. Students have systematically learned all categories of knowledge, skills, tools and methods needed by international services, and have grasped comprehensive capabilities of global exploration. This project helps SNPTC to prepare a talent pool for its internationalization course.
