ZSmart xMAN:Full Support Solution for FTTx

    Currently, FTTx network is the tendency and hotspot in communication industry, and many countries have been constructing FTTx-based national broadband network. Fiber communication technologies keep emerging, and the increase in bandwidth has driven more new services. However, traditional OSS system lacks specific operating and maintenance support for FTTx-based network, mainly including

    • It is difficult to monitor, analyze and resolve faults on passive PON equipments;
    • Traditional OSS cannot support planning and design of ODN network, so a large amount of design work should be fulfilled in other system, and design drawing and material list cannot be imported into resource system automatically;
    • It lacks efficient supporting tools for FTTx equipment maintenance.

     

    ZSmart xMAN is an end-to-end operation & support solution put forward for FTTx service provisioning and assurance. Evolved from traditional OSS solution for fixed line networks, ZSmart xMAN is specially designed to take care of FTTx-specific features, such as endless emerging of new services (including VoIP and IPTV), adoption of cable multipoint connection and passiveness of ODN network, which the traditional OSS solutions cannot cope with.

     

    ZSmart xMAN solution provides full lifecycle management including planning & design, resource construction, service release, service assurance and service optimization. Functionally, it covers the following domains specified by eTOM: assurance, provisioning and product lifecycle management.

     

    Key Features

    • Provide planning & design and construction functions which are used to support ODN planning & design. GUI-based tools can help to convert elements of design drawing into material list automatically, which resolves the inconsistency between design drawing and real archived resources;
    • Support end-to-end service provisioning flow. The solution adopts BPM to flexibly configure provisioning flow template and automatically configure service & resources. In addition, automatic NE activation function is also provided;
    • Resolve the problem that the passive equipment cannot acquire alarm. By interconnecting with ZTE’s EasyOptical toolkit, alarm source can be located, especially for cable breakpoint or attenuation positions. ZSmart xMAN can perform periodical detection on passive network equipment to prevent potential problems. In addition, ZSmart xMAN includes experience base to help to adopt diagnosis commands automatically according to fault types to simplify work of maintenance staffs.
    • Provide routine operation plan, on duty, and dispatching function to support daily maintenance work.
    • Perform network & service optimization analysis according to network operation conditions and put forward proposals on network expansion.
