In addition to announcing the Blade V9 and Blade V9 VITA smartphones, ZTE has also decided to announce its first Android Go handset at MWC 2018, the ZTE Tempo Go. Now, as this smartphone is a part of Google’s Android Go project, it means that it ships with a lightweight version of Android, and some Android Go applications out of the box, which is considerably lighter than Google’s regular apps. Android Go project was first talked about back at Google I/O 2017, while Google officially announced it at the end of last year.

Having said that, Alcatel announced its Android Go smartphone yesterday, and now it’s time for ZTE’s offering. The ZTE Tempo Go is a rather compact smartphone, and it comes with an interesting pattern on its back. This handset comes with a rear-facing loudspeaker, and a single camera on the back, next to which you will notice an LED flash. All the physical keys are included on the right-hand side of the ZTE Tempo Go, while the device sports three capacitive buttons below its display. A 3.5mm headphone jack is included at the very bottom of this handset, and it seems like the phone will be available in a Gray color only, at least ZTE did not mention any additional colors in its press release. The ZTE Tempo Go features a 5-inch 854 x 480 display, along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable internal storage. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 210 SoC.

A 5-megapixel camera is placed on the back of the ZTE Tempo Go, while a 2-megapixel snapper can be found on the phone’s front side. The device comes with a single SIM card slot, and we’re looking at a micro SIM slot here. A separate microSD card slot is available, though, which lets you expand this phone’s internal storage. Bluetooth 4.2 is also a part of the package, while a 2,200mAh battery comes with the ZTE Tempo as well. The phone measures 145.5 x 72 x 9.15mm, and it will be sold via the company’s official website, and both AT&T and T-Mobile in the US. The ZTE Tempo Go is priced at only $79.99, which makes it one of the company’s most affordable smartphones.
