ZTE completes China’s first vBRAS deployment in SDN

26 December 2017, Shenzhen, China - ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today announced that it has become the first vendor to deploy vBRAS solution in the Software Defined Network (SDN) of China Mobile’s trial network.

ZTE has completed the automatic deployment of Virtual Network Function (VNF) and Network Functions Virtualization Infrastructure (NFVI) in an SDN controller architecture, which proves that ZTE Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) solution has the capability of automatic deployment in the operators’ next-generation networks. This automatic deployment greatly improves vBRAS launching efficiency, saving deployment time by about 30%.

In addition, ZTE’s vBRAS-C, featuring innovative in-built Load Balancing (LB) module, canwell reduce network routing configuration, realize proper resource utilization, and pave the way for elastic expansion of user scale.

ZTE’s vBRAS solution adopts a separated Control/User (C/U) architecture, in which, vBRAS-C is deployed in the core Telecom Integration Cloud (TIC) while vBRAS-U is deployed in the edge TIC. In this project, ZTE uses ZENIC controller to take centralized control of the core TIC SDN, which shows that ZTE’s vBRAS and controller are able to decouple the lower layer resource pool from the cloud platform.

As an important parnter of China Mobile in its Novonet project, ZTE makes innovations in vBRAS solution, becomes the first to propose vBRAS integrated with NFV and SDN technologies, and assists China Mobile in efficient and elastic next-generation network evolution.
