ZTE, German University Partner for R&D Centre

Focus on the development of Long Term Evolution Time Division Duplex technology

Telecommunications equipment and network solutions provider ZTE and Technical University Dresden in Germany have entered into an agreement on the opening of a research and development (R&D) centre.

The planned R&D centre will mainly concentrate towards the development of key technologies for the mobile standard Long Term Evolution (LTE), especially in Time Division Duplex (TDD) technology.

The centre will be located close to the University of Dresden, which was a preferred alternative specifically because of the availability of highly trained engineers and excellent technical facilities.

The research centre will have technical experts, scholars, graduate students and other necessary resources in a dedicated lab to study and develop future telecommunications solutions.

ZTE plans to hire graduate students from Technical University Dresden over the coming years to strengthen its efforts in the field of innovation and patent development.

The company aims to invest more into research in the local European markets, where the cooperation is expected to help achieve that as well as meet new challenges for 4G and LTE technologies.
