ZTE launches Multiple Access Binding solution

ZTE Corporation, has announced its Multiple Access Binding (MAB) solution, which enables operators to better manage data traffic and improve Quality of Experience (QOE) by aggregating multiple networks and access technologies.

Branded ‘All-Join’, ZTE’s MAB terminal seamlessly offloads data traffic onto alternative networks to enable the user to experience a higher quality of service. The terminal connects to 3G, Wi-Fi, LTE networks and other access technologies to offload traffic and minimise congestion on any one network.

With mass data usage continuously increasing, networks are becoming progressively more congested. As myriad smart devices are coming to market with ‘easy to use’ user interfaces (UI’s) it is becoming increasingly necessary to optimise networks to manage the data surge.

MAB enables operators to provide a seamless, high quality experience, by introducing a common access point between multiple technologies including 3G, LTE, Wi-Fi, WiMAX, femtocells and picocells to route traffic to the least congested alternative and as a result freeing up capacity for the operator,” says Mr. Ziyang Xu, president of ZTE Core Network Products.

ZTE’s MAB solution unifies data offload technologies and provides seamless network offload. Based on the user location, the solution incorporates deep packet Inspection (DPI) capabilities to intelligently inspect the availability of an alternative network. It then automatically routes the users’ data traffic to a less congested network.

The live demo of the MAB was witnessed by more than 35 top operators from around the world at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last month. The Uni-Core team successfully demonstrated the binding of LTE and Wi-Fi on a single terminal through unified authentication by ZTE USPP (Universal Subscriber Profile Platform). It then bound multiple access technologies using Integrated Serving Gateway (ISGW) built on the advanced service router platform.

During the live demo, operators showed great interest while observing a streamed video session established over LTE and FTP Download (P2P traffic case) over Wi-Fi, carried out at the same time. The operators witnessed “the super tunnel” creation in the ISGW and significant bandwidth boost was recorded.
