25 November 2019, Shenzhen, China - ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today announced that its Chief Security Officer Zhong Hong has shared his insights on corporate security practices at World 5G Convention, which was held from November 20 to 23, in Beijing, China. As a panelist of 5G Security Forum at the Convention, Zhong Hong introduced corporate practices on guaranteeing cybersecurity in the 5G era.
Zhong Hong shared ZTE's experience in security management from three dimensions: people, process, and technology. People involves establishing professional security organizations and training security professionals. Process refers to an end-to-end service process, including threat modeling, security design, security coding, and security testing in the product implementation phase. Process also involves supply chain security management and control, service security and security response. Technology refers to the adoption of technical means to guarantee the endogenous security of products and networks, as well as the security of services and O&M.
In addition, Zhong Hong advocated professional and advanced security technologies for cybersecurity protection. For instance, ZTE provides AI-based unknown cyberattack identification and defense solution, as well as big data privacy protection solution through masking, filtering and anonymization to achieve trustworthy protection of sensitive and private data.
According to Zhong Hong, as a telecommunications infrastructure supplier, ZTE has established an end-to-end security assurance system, and  has applied new security technologies to build secure and trustworthy 5G networks together with operators and stakeholders.
"Compared with those of 3G and 4G networks, the security of 5G networks is greatly improved in terms of standards and design," said ZTE’s Chief Security Officer, Zhong Hong. “At the beginning of its design, the 5G network has adopted risk analysis, and formulated the trust model and security architecture at the standard level, such as air-interface user-plane integrity protection, sophisticated key derivation system, and IMSI privacy protection."
