Providing more intelligent, virtualized and cloud-based services with SDON technology

ZTE Software-Defined Optical Network (SDON) White Paper comprehensively analyzes the existing SDON technology from four aspects: development trend, solution, application scenarios, and technical challenges. According to ZTE, the operation manpower required by the SDON can be 50 percent less than that required by a traditional network, and the service provisioning time can be reduced from days to hours. Not only has the SDON changed the control function and transmission function tightly coupled to the control functions and operational functions of the tight coupling, the SDON also changes the closed control concentrating on the process of connections to the open control focusing on the process of networking, which make the optical network control technology and the application towards a development trend of more intelligent, virtualized and cloud-based.
