| The 4th International Telecommunications, Information Technology,
Broadcasting and Office Automation Trade Fair of Algeria - alger
telecomp 2004 - enjoys powerful growth. Scheduled for 10 to 13
October 2004 at the Palais des Expositions in Algiers, 61 exhibitors
from 17 countries, among them all of the Algerian and international
market leaders, participate at this leading CIT event in Algeria.
The Algerian market for communication and IT services and
technology is more and more characterised by "the opening
of the sector towards competition and the strong encouragement
of all walks of life to use CIT at every single level".
According to Minister Amar Tou's statement of June 22nd, an
enormous budget of 36 bn. DA has been set aside to further
improve services and to realise new major projects. Until 2010,
teledensity should reach 60%, and 30 - 40% of the Algerian
population should have Internet access.
Backed by this highly encouraging development, in terms of
space, alger telecomp has grown by more than 80% compared with
last year's edition. This year, alger telecomp is again officially

alger telecomp 2004 takes place at the same time as alger
energy, also with all majors participating, an additional plus
for all IT and telecom equipment manufacturers and service
providers who also work closely with the big shots in the Algerian
energy industry such as Sonatrach, Sonelgaz, Naftal and many
others.
alger telecomp 2004 becomes ever more of interest for major
telecom and IT players. On the service providers level, alger
telecomp 2004 sees the participation of Algérie Télécom
and their mobile arm Mobilis, Djezzy/Orascom Telecom Algeria
and some Djezzy distributors, as well as Wataniya Telecom.
As ISP's Eepad will be there, who will also take care of the "Espace
Cyber ADSL". Also Webcom participates. What concerns office
automation, CBS/Xerox have signed in as have Canon-Sabi Systems
and ALBM CFAO Technologies.
On the telecom equipment side Aacom, ABM, Afritek, AlgérieKa,

Keymile, KPoint Com, Microwave Data Systems, Motorola, Nokia,
Nortel Networks, Rohde & Schwarz, Samsung, Siemens, Sitel,

STEP, TTE and ZTE have registered.
Top official support has again been pledged to alger telecomp
by the Algerian ministry of posts and information and communication
technology.
Algeria today is totally committed to become a modern and
open-minded society. The economic opening, the liberalisation
and the privatisation of many sectors, have created GDP growth
rates of 3.2%, 4.2% and 5.2% in the years 2001-2003. Algeria's
foreign exchange reserves reached an all-time high in the year
2004 (around US$ 35 billion), after the country has succeeded
to export petrochemicals worth around US $ 20 billion annually

drastically improved.
